Your job will be combined with hands-on training, leading to qualifications that are nationally recognised by employers.

As a LATA Apprentice you will earn while you learn, in fact, research shows you can earn in a lifetime, on average, £100,000 more than those who don't do an Apprenticeship and there is nothing stopping you from going on to college or university after, or going straight into your dream job! Dependant upon your age, experience, skills and hours worked you could earn up to £150 a week along with accredited training.

LATA have Apprenticeships available in the following occupational areas:

Improving Operational Performance (IOP): As an IOP Apprentice you might schedule materials, monitor production processes, work on the floor as a member of a production team, test the quality of products, and learn health and safety practices. This Apprenticeship provides opportunities towards preparation to achieving trained operator semi skilled status within the Manufacturing/Engineering/Logistics Supply Chain Sectors.
Sustainable Resource Management: The Sustainable Resource Management Apprenticeship at level 2 means you may work in a number of roles such as Manual/Mechanical Cleanser, Transfer Station Technician, Materials Recycling Facility Technician (Picker/Sorter), Housefold Waste Recycling Centre Technician, Recycling Technician (Driver/Loader), Refuse Technician (Driver/Loader) or an Environmental Technician (including Weightbridge and other activities). In this fast growing and dynamic industry we have a wide range of exciting job opportunities.

On this Intermediate Apprenticeship you will have the opportunity to work in all areas of a logistics related business in order to gain a complete understanding of how the business works such as warehousing or traffic office. During this time you will have the opportunity to gather evidence towards the Level 2 qualification whilst working in the various parts of the business and be in a stronger position to decide on which Advanced Apprenticeship would suit you best!

You could be travelling across the roads of the UK and beyond driving and LGV, or you could be doing local deliveries in van, or you could be a cycle or motorcycle courier making deliveries in towns or cities. As an apprentice you could be involved in transporting goods with pick-ups and multi-drop deliveries. Other duties may include planning schedules and routes, supervising the loading and unloading of cargo, completing paperwork and log books - and, of course, lots of driving.
